Have you ever felt like you were alone in the world? Like you are the only one that really understands your situation? Have you ever felt like you are the only one that is left living like you still believe in Jesus? Well, you are in good company because Elijah felt this same way in 1 Kings 19.
Have you ever been asked, “Why are you here?”
God has given you a purpose for your life. Though you may feel as though everyone around you does not serve Jesus you must not forget your purpose. God told Elijah that he has “preserved those who remain in Israel, totaling seven thousand—all those whose knees haven’t bowed down to Baal and whose mouths haven’t kissed him.” God wants to encourage Elijah that there are still 7,000 people who trust the name of the true God.
Though you may feel like you are the only follower of Christ in your school, workplace, neighborhood, and home God has encouragement for you. Though you feel like you are alone in your sphere of influence Jesus has preserved others of his followers that you can align yourself with to encourage you to continue in your purpose. Look for those who are followers in Jesus that you might encourage one another to keep the faith and not shrink back into your old way of living. If you don’t know where to start and you have a desire to learn more about the word of God, then advertise a new bible study that you are wishing to start over your lunch break or after work to get interested parties involved. You will certainly have other Christ followers begin to join your meetings and you might even have people join who are looking for something to believe. This would be a great witnessing tool and a source of encouragement for you and all those in participation of the study.
During 1 Kings 19 Elijah had a purpose to anoint two new kings—the King of Aram and the King of Israel—and a new prophet. Much like Elijah God has a purpose for you in your school, workplace, neighborhood, and home. Sometimes when we feel like we are all that is left we feel hopeless in accomplishing our purposes. God wants to encourage you that you are not alone so that you can continue in your purpose. Hold fast to your belief that it is not snatched away from you. All we need to do is yield to Jesus completely. By completely yielding to Jesus we will find that we are always at the right place at the right time. God has an encouraging individual right around the corner to help us through the tough times.
Remember peace, love, and Christ because you know He died for you.
